       Past Long Island Agility Events

Long Island Agility's own-

                       C-ATCH BEEZUS and Jan Collier

Beezus became an official Agility Champion on July 26, 2009, earning the C-ATCH (CPE Agility Trial Champion). I’ve been told that she’s the first dog on Long Island to earn this title. It was only fitting that the last leg was Jackpot, our most difficult event. Jackpot is a distance handling challenge, and getting Beezus to work away with confidence has been a long road.  Beezus is also now a Champion Standard Dog.

Although she’s a Champion, Beezus is really just a regular All-American dog who spends most of her time on the sofa.  Success has not spoiled her a bit. She is currently working on the Champion Titles in other CPE classes, and I especially hope she can become a Champion Jackpot dog.  Don’t know how old she is, don’t know where she came from, but she’s the dearest dog in the world to me.

Here are some photos of dogs and handlers from the very early times of Long Island Agility

The photo on the right was taken at one of the first USDAA trials hosted by LIA in 1991,in the Northeast.  There are some familiar faces to us old timers, JC and Hazel Thompson with their BC's Rick Rack and Robbie, they started they whole distance handling thing.  Ella is there with Tanner her awesome Boxer.  Julie Daniels with her Rottweiler, Jessie.  Brenda Buja with her mix Max. Marietta Huber is there with her lab.

I went to watch Ella and Tanner, after that I was hooked and Travis the Papillon was my first agility dog

More familiar LIA faces, Janis and her Cocker, KC Freckles, Mary Ann and Webster (this was their first ever agility trial), Pat with Paps, Lady and Fancy, Ella with Boxers Tanner and Tally and Louise with Berner Sophie and Pap Travis.  This was taken at the Contact USDAA agility trial, in October of 1993.

Here is Pat with her two Paps, Lady & Fancy at a demo doing their ever popular Brace Agility Run.  They were a great crowd pleaser at the various demo events LIA participates in.

Past and current members of LIA posing with the banner that Mei-Ling one of our members designed and we still use it today!

We even demoed at the site of the World's Fair in Flushing Meadow Park in Queens.  Imagine, agility in Queens......

Lots of LIA dogs, lets see if you can find them all, Cocker KC Freckles, herd of Boxers; Tanner, Tally, Ida, Scooter & LT, Travis and Lola the Paps, 2 Weims; Riley and Astra, 2 Bernese; Chelsea and Sophie and one tiny little baby Blue Merle Border Collie.

These LIA people and dogs dress rather oddly......

These demos are hard, hard work.....  Looks like Sheila and Mary Ann are having a tough day..

 Some comments from LIA members-----

Some classic memories there.   Prior to the 91 trial in White Plains, we had held trials in 89 & 90 in West Hills Park.   Earliest classes were in the frigid barn at Knollwood Farms, Brentwood.   So we have been in business for around 20 years!     What a great time and what great people we've met and worked with.

And what's the biggest benefit of being an LIA member?

You never get old.

Everyone  looks the same today as they did when those pictures were taken.  Even the equipment looks as good today as it did then.
