At the AKC Canine Experience day July 27 2008 at Doggie U, Kane got his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title.  He did a great job, the evaluator complimented him on being well trained......

Both photos take by Donna Kelliher

These three photos are of Kane running at Long Island Agility's Fall 2008 USDAA show with this favorite Aunt; Kathleen Desvigne.  She was kind enough to run him for me on the weekend, since I was still recovering from that four day stint in the hospital on IV antibiotics for the infected bug bite.  She did a great job and he was in his glory to run with her.  And they came away with a lovely Q in Advanced Gamblers!  Way to go team.  Thanks Kathleen for taking good care of my boy on the course.

This is Kane's very own page.  He arrived on August 6th on a plane from Wisconsin.  He comes from Ledge Rock Working Kelpies.  Thank you to Linda and Bill Lehman for letting me share our home, our life and I am sure awesome experiences with our new Kane.

He  learned to go through the dog door, up the stairs, back down the stairs and back through the dog door.

Riki and he finally played after a week, sometimes it still gets a bit rough, Riki is no match for the sheer body weight of Kane.

As you can see he already is familiar with the tunnel, though I do not think that is the way it is supposed to be performed!

Kane really likes to play agility.  He has awesome weave poles, great distance work and is doing a great job in the USDAA agility trials that we have been attending this year.  I see awesome accomplishments for him in 2008 in the agility ring.

He went to his first agility demo on August 28th, at the Scottish Games in Old Westbury Gardens.  He did an awesome job schmoozing with the public,  he truly loves people.  He was not at all bothered by the bagpipes, but he was a little leery of the drums, but by the end of the day he was getting used to them.

Kane is fitting in well here in Queens, he has moved to a new apartment, we went from the basement to the second floor, he waits nicely to go out as we all tumble down the stairs.  He has seen sheep, he is learning about agility.  He still loves people and is a wonderful addition to my dog family.   See new pictures of him on the New Photos page.

Kane is now almost four years old, he is smart, agile and he loves, loves, loves Flyball!!    He already has six titles in flyball after only a year  and half of attending flyball tournaments!   For him nothing is more important in life than the Kelpie god (the tennis ball)!

I also taught him how to swim, he was not overly fond of it in the beginning, but I used the ball and he watched Devin who just glides off the step and into the pool, to show him how to do it.  Now he looks like a dock dog, I throw the toy in the pool and he launches himself into the air, makes a huge splash and comes back time and time again to do it more.

Dock Dog Diving Photos by Robert Nyman

Kane attended his first Dog Dock diving competition in the beginning of June 2007.  He was a little put off by the height of the dock from the pool.  He did a great broad jump from the edge of the dock.  He did his first jump 9 feet and the second one was over 11 feet from a standstill.  Imagine how great he will be when he learns how to run down the dock and get up some speed.  This is a work in progress, we will try Dock Dog Diving again sometime in the future.  The folks at Ultimate Air Dogs were great and pleasant to deal with.
