About the classes

Monday Dragonfire Agility Daytime classes held at Holbrook NY

Beginners class for dogs that have never seen equipment.  Handlers can be familiar with equipment.  Introduction to the equipment, how to teach your dog to jump, weaves, contact obstacles will to shown to your dog.  Handlers will learn how to safely train the dogs to navigate around the obstacles.  Obedience for agility will be addressed, sit, stay, come which is crucial to training agility.  How to use food and toys in the training of agility will be shown to the handlers and dogs.

Advanced Beginner – once dog and handler have completed the beginner class, we continue to show the dogs more of the equipment.  The dogs will learn how to safely do the obstacles.  We will begin to work on handling and how to get your dogs from one obstacle to the other.  Handling, front and rear crosses, why we do them are addressed in this class.

Novice  after completing Advanced Beginner class, dogs and handlers are putting together more complicated skills and sequences.  Weave training is moving along nicely, more complicated entrances to poles.

Intermediate dogs and handlers are working on more complicated sequences and skills.  Weaves are almost closed and see saw work is progressing nicely.

Competition dogs and handlers working more on handling and more difficult sequences.  Special skills will be taught; front, rear crosses, switches, distance work and many other things a dog and handler need to step into the competition agility ring.

 

 Wednesday Doggie U classes

  Competition Class - Full size course is run, dogs do closed weaves.  Courses are more difficult and the sequences will challenge the dog and handler team to work at  all the levels of competition, the *Novice,**Advanced/Open and ***Masters/Excellent level.

 *Novice is the first level of Agility Competition

**Advanced/Open is the second level of Agility Competition

***Masters/Excellent is the third and highest level of Agility Competition
